A New Version Of Orpheus
Once upon a time, there was a man named Orpheus. He was son of Calliope. Orpheus was known as the greatest musician who ever lived. He was great at both lyre and the flute! Myth says, he had the ability to turn nature alive. Then one day Orpheus was playing his flute when all of a sudden a tree cracks open. Inside the tree he saw the most beautiful girl.Right then and there he fell in love with the girl who caught his eye. He asked her what was her name. Her response was, Eurydice. As time went by, they got married. And then one day, Eurydice fell in love with the beauty of nature that she ran into a man. This stranger was trying to kidnap her but she escaped. She ran and ran until a snake had bitten her! Orpheus got worried and went searching for her, but sadly he was too late. When he had found her she was dead. He took her back to his people and had agreed to burn her. He had made the worst commitment! He had said that because of Eurydice death no body was allowed to play music. Orpheus then had decided to go to the Underworld to get the Eurydice back. Myth also says he charmed the king with his magical music. The king had told Orpheus to never look back until he was out of the Underworld or Eurydice will never be seen again. Well, naughty Orpheus looked back and had found out his wife had been gone for good. Orpheus had become so sad of his wife's death he began to become lonely. He was so upset he started breaking his lyre to pieces. Women didn't enjoy how this was going that they started to approach him. The more they approached Orpheus the more they killed him. The two Orpheus and Eurydice were never seen again. Unlike most stories, this wasn't a happy ending!

Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar was known as one of the important rulers of Rome. It all began when he disobeyed the orders Senate would give him. He began to think his allies would torture him if he followed Senate's orders. Many Roman's had admired that Julius stood up without fear for himself. He was like a warrior, proud, a hero in war, and had the power to lead. He was so powerful he was elected to be in complete control! A year later they say Sir Caesar was known as the Dictator For Life. The is how he was popular in Rome .

My Favorite Greek Thinker .
Perikles
My favorite Greek thinker is Perikles. He was one of the most important people in Athens during the 5th century. He was elected 15 times to be general. He improved the system of democracy in the city. That made artists and philosophers to work in freedom. In my opinion Perikles planned a major building program for the Athens , because he cared for his people. Perikles sounds like a strong, bold and caring man. These are some reasons why he is my favorite Greek Thinker.

"Hector."
1) Do you believe Hector did the right thing by fighting Achilles?
I believe Hector did do the right thing by fighting Achilles because , the gods betrayed Hector and took his friend. Also because Hector is fighting for protection over his people and family. As for Achilles he just wants revenge and to be glorified.
2) What do you think was the reason Hector accepted Achilles challenge?
In my opinion I believe Hector only accepted Achilles challenge because they were both the best fighters and they both had heroic qualities. Also because Achilles had killed many of Hector's Trojan people and he wants it to all stop.
3) Would you have done the same?
Yes! Because I care for my people here in America and I would fight for them exactly how they fight for me in war. I wouldn't want Achilles to think he's better then me so I can see where Hector is coming from.

The Myth Of Osiris .
In the beginning there was only Nun. Nun started at the dark waters of chaos. As the days went by, there was one day that a hill popped out of the waters. This hill was then named, Ben-Ben. The first god, whose name wast Atum, stood on the hill. Atum then coughed out Shu, who is the god of the air, and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. After these gods were created, they had two children. The first child was named Geb, the god of the earth. Then, there was Nut, the goddess of the sky. Shu, lifted up Nut so she can be a canopy over Geb. Nut and Geb then had four children named Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys. Osiris then became ruler of the earth and Isis became queen. Myth says, Osiris was a good king and ruled for many years. However, Seth was jealous of his brother Osiris , because Seth wanted to be ruler himself. The days go by and Seth's jealousy came to an end by murdering his brother , Osiris. Osiris went down into the underworld and Seth remained up on earth and became king. Osiris and Isis had one son called Horus. Horus battled against Seth and won victory in Seth's throne. After Horus won the battle he became king of the earth his father, Osiris, became king of the underworld.

Kings Unify Egypt
Menes wanted to unify Upper and Lower part Egypt. His army took control of Lower Egypt. Menes then married a princess from Lower Egypt. He then became king of Lower and Upper Egypt. Later He combined the two crowns to a double crown. Many Historians consider Menes to be Egypt's first Pharaoh. The word Pharaoh means "great house". He also founded Egypt's first Dynasty.

Here in Sumer, things are not the best. It's harder than it was in the mountains. One of the things i hate about the Euphrates and Tigris rivers is that they get flooded. And then usually in the summer the two rivers dry out. Another thing about those rivers is that they get clogged up sometimes because of the sand. We would have to migrate because of all these things.
